STREETS USED TO BELONG TO PEDESTRIANS AND CYCLISTS. THE AUTO INDUSTRY TOOK ROADS OVER WITH PROFIT-DRIVEN AGGRESSIVE ADVERTISING. THEY EVEN INVENTED OFFENSIVE SLURS LIKE ‘JAYWALKING’ (N.B. ‘JAY’ USED TO BE AN OFFENSIVE WORD THAT WAS PROMOTED BY PRO-AUTOMOBILE INTERESTS IN THE 1920’S).
IT’S TIME TO RECLAIM NEW YORK CITY WITH A TAKEOVER THAT IS FIGHTING UNFAIR CYCLING CONDITIONS AND THE OCCUPATION OF STREETS.
